MEDIA ADVISORY: Overnight Warming Center
CANTON, Ohio – The City of Canton, Crossroads United Methodist Church and Canton For All People (CFAP) are pleased to announce the location for an overnight warming center effective today. When the temperatures are below 10 degrees Fahrenheit, Cross Roads United Methodist Church, located at 120 Cleveland Avenue SW, Canton, OH 44702, will offer an overnight shelter for those in need. Cots, blankets, hot beverages and food will be provided. COVID 19 precautions must be honored, such as masks and social distancing.
Therefore, with the temperatures expected to drop again this weekend, Crossroads United Methodist Church will be open as a warming center on
- Friday, January 19, 2024 at 5:00 pm – Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 8:00 am
- Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 5:00 pm – Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 8:00 am
The City of Canton Safety forces will continue to check on citizens who are outside in the cold weather. Canton citizens needing assistance may call 911.
SARTA will continue to provide transportation. Those who need transportation to the warming center may access SARTA from any regular stop to the Cornerstone Transit Center on Chery Avenue SE or by utilizing route #102 or #105 until 9:45 pm. Late loop #152 is available from 9:45 pm – 12:45 am. Please let the bus driver know you are in route to the warming center and there will be no fee.
If transportation is needed when SARTA is not available, please call 330-649-5800 for assistance.
The City of Canton is proud to partner with Crossroads United Methodist Church, CFAP and SARTA who have worked together to provide this much needed service to our citizens.
